“My Favorite Older Friend”
Chocolates, vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup, swing sets, lacrosse games, caring, loving and loving dogs – that’s my bus driver Gloria! Kindergarten through fourth grade Gloria was my bus driver and I’m glad she was. Everyday she picked me up she would say “Good Morning, Brianna!” If there were big puddles she made sure we went through them, but if she was picking-up or dropping us off she would pull up so we wouldn’t have to walk through it. When we went over bumps she would say, “Get ready!” and we would lift our hands up and bounce. It was so much fun! Also, when I was running late she always waited for me. When dropping off, Gloria would always wait until mom waved to her before heading off.
Sometimes Gloria drove my brother’s lacrosse team to their away games. Once I went to a game and saw her swinging on a swing. She told me how she would sit on her front steps every night and eat vanilla ice cream with her dog. Then on my friend Jacob’s birthday as we were going to pick him up and she said, “Everyone duck down!” So we all hid and when he walked onto the bus we all stood up and yelled “Happy Birthday, Jacob!” He was so surprised. On my birthday Gloria bought me a box of chocolates. They were delicious (yum).
Sometimes we put our stuffed animals above the seats and she would say “there are wild animals on the bus!” She also let us eat on the bus. Whenever I came home my dog Molly would be waiting at the door and Gloria would give me a dog treat for her. Once she gave me two. That’s my wonderful bus driver Gloria.
