Word For Your Weekend: EXTRAORDINARY

 Word For The Weekend

[ik-strawr-dn-er-ee, ek-struhawr-]

DEF: Extremely good or impressive; exceptional in character or degree; noteworthy, remarkable.

Does anyone else have a problem with this definition? I don’t think extraordinary should mean “extremely good or impressive”. Shouldn’t it literally mean extra ordinary?

More ordinary than average? If someone called you extra dull, it wouldn’t be a compliment. Jumboridinary or ginoridnary, ok. Who wants to be extra ordinary?
