The Suburban Outlaw – Pam Sherman

Suburban OutlawPam Sherman is an attorney, actress, and writer whose story of ditching her day job as a lawyer to pursue her dream as an actress was featured in People Magazine. Today she combines her business background as an attorney along with her creative skills to conduct the EDGE™: Explore, Dream, Grow & Excite training for business leaders to use acting skills for presentations, networking, business development and leadership.

Having graduated from American University and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Sherman practiced law specializing in securities and employment litigation in Washington, D.C. at Dechert Price and Melrod Redman & Gartlan.  Upon leaving the law to become an actor, she attended the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater.

Pam has performed in theater, film, and television, including, NBC’s, Homicide: Life on the Streets, Unsolved Mysteries, and the long-running play, Shear Madness at the Kennedy Center.   Her one-woman show Pumping Josey: Life and Death in Suburbia co-written with award-winning playwright Caleen Sennett Jennings, has played to great acclaim in many venues, including Horizons Theater the oldest women’s theater in the country.

Pam has been an adjunct professor at American University, where she created an award-winning curriculum in Arts Law in the Arts Management Program. She has guest-lectured at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Business and the Education Doctoral Program at St. John Fisher College. Among other seminars she has conducted, is Acting for Lawyers at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.

Pam is actively involved in the international organization, Young Presidents’ Organization, Chairing the first-ever Spouse Experience for YPO’s Global Leadership Conference and serving on the International Youth & Family Task Force.  She is a highly-rated education resource for YPO-WPO Chapters world-wide.

Her charitable involvement has benefited many organizations.  She is a member of the bar of the State of New York, Actor’s Equity Association, and the Screen Actor’s Guild.
Her weekly column, The Suburban Outlaw™ can be read in Gannett publications.  Her book, The Suburban Outlaw: Tales from the EDGE was a Best Seller in the Amazon’s Woman & Business category.
Sherman is a keynote speaker and provides group and individual training programs to explore THE EDGE™ for organizations as diverse as law firms, advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies. She and her husband live in Pittsford, New York along with their two children, and Curley, the dog.
